Unexpected Fireflies and Goth Caterpillars

Last night, I discovered the most wonderful thing: fireflies on the empty lot beside the Shelf. And not just a few errant fireflies, but enough to make you think of enchanting things. I never knew that empty lot can turn magical at night – or maybe, it has always been that way; I have just been too busy to notice it.

I must've missed so many beautiful, ephemeral moments before, when my days were full of deadlines and the only way I can do things that were not on my to-do list was to multitask. I'm glad that is over – at least for now. Starting today, I will always remind myself to stop, smell the flowers, and admire the fireflies.

I also found this little fellow in my garden. I showed the photo to my friend, Trisha, and she said, "That looks like a Mistula caterpillar!" Hmm, it does look a little like Lugosi.
One day at a time. )

Lobo and Freej's New Cub

Yesterday was my third year of married life, and it started with a weird dream.

In my dream, Lobo is as real as you and me. He looks exactly the same as his doll counterpart – with too-flawless skin, purple eyes and spiky violet hair – except he stood a head taller than me. He also turns into a monster when provoked, which is why we always kept him under close watch. So when Rey and I had to go on a trip, we left him with our friend, Freej [[info]inspirexdesire] because who better to take care of Lobo than the leader of the Lobo League? After giving an excited Freej a set of instructions and Lobo's medicine, Rey and I waved goodbye and went. To where, I forgot. Many things happened during our trip, but dreams are often incoherent, and I don't want to confuse you.

Like Lobo, my dreams can get wilder. )

The July issue of Sense&Style ROCKS!
CLICK! )

The July 2009 issue of Sense&Style magazine devotes six glossy pages to Mistula, as photographed by Mike Fallarme at the workshop of the renown sculptor of religious idols, Maestro Willy Tadeo Layug. This is the first time for a Philippine magazine to feature ball-jointed dolls in a fashion spread. Which must be why Uno is feeling glamorous lately. The issue is out now; you have to see it!(∇≦♭)

And that's not because the man behind Thriller has left the world; I left Young&Rubicam, my company of many unforgettable years and many unforgettable people. I now stand at the crossroads, free but a little bewildered, not knowing where to go. It is both exciting and frightening to be here, in front of a million possible paths. In the past, mentors and circumstances have chosen for me, but now – the Universe seems still. Silent. Waiting for me to take the first step.

I will let it wait a little longer.

Gabie will be fine, Hannah. She's already a big girl.

You really think it's him?

Trust me, I'm an owl; I have stereoscopic vision. That's him. Mistula's frontman and bassist, ManikaManila's first. I visit his blog every day, you know. It's just hard to leave comments when you have talons.
